| ✅ HOUSE PASSES THE DEPORTING FRAUDSTERS ACT |
I'm proud to be an original co-sponsor of Rep. Dave Taylor's H.R. 1958, the Deporting Fraudsters Act of 2026, which passed the House this week by a vote of 231-186. This commonsense legislation holds aliens accountable for defrauding the U.S. government or stealing taxpayer-funded benefits. Under this legislation:
It's clear the Biden Administration's immigration system was riddled with corruption that has eroded public trust. Hardworking Missourians should not have to foot the bill for criminal illegal aliens, while Americans go without receiving certain benefits themselves. This legislation ensures that illegal aliens who defraud our country are held fully accountable. My colleagues and I remain committed to removing dangerous and criminal actors from our communities. You can view the "Worst of the Worst" criminals, including fraudsters, arrested by the Department of Homeland Security HERE. |

| 💡Education & Workforce |
This week, the Education & Workforce Committee passed seven bills focused on strengthening literacy instruction, protecting students, combating student aid fraud, and safeguarding workers' retirement savings. I had the chance to speak in depth about the Truman Scholarship Clean House Act sponsored by Representative Elise Stefanik, which, along with the other bills approved in committee, will now move to the House floor for consideration. The Truman Scholarship Program awards up to $30,000 each year to one student from every state and territory who plans to pursue a career in public service. On paper, it's meant to be nonpartisan, but now the reality is different. The current application and selection process has a clear ideological bias, favoring a DEI framework that rewards "progressive" activism over practical public service. This bill refocuses the program on real-world priorities that serve the American people, restores ideological balance, and honors President Truman's original vision. It restructures the Truman Scholarship Foundation's leadership and selection process to eliminate political bias, ensure fairness, and hold the program accountable to taxpayers. | 🏛️ Judiciary Committee |
American military power exists to defend U.S. interests, and Venezuela has clearly become a foothold for hostile state actors and transnational criminal networks operating far too close to home. This week, the Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight held a high‑profile hearing titled "The Legal Basis for Action Against Venezuelan Drug Traffickers." My colleagues and I examined recent U.S. operations in Venezuela, including the January 2026 effort to apprehend Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and a series of U.S. airstrikes against drug‑smuggling vessels. The reality is that years of effectively no background checks under the Biden Administration weakened our security and allowed millions of dangerous individuals to enter the country. That reality highlights the need for a decisive response from President Trump to a Maduro regime that fosters crime, instability, and the strategic encroachment of potentially hostile actors in our own backyard. Our focus in Congress is to ensure that we are constantly working to protect American lives, and the U.S. military's use of airstrikes against Venezuelan vessels were absolutely necessary to ensure the safety of the American Hemisphere.
